A singer MC Katia, a recognized veteran of the Brazilian funk scene, died this Sunday, 13 years old, 47 years old. The information was confirmed on social media. MC Katia was admitted to the Intensive Care Center (ICU) of the Souza Aguiar hospital, in Rio de Janeiro, where she was fighting for her life after having had her leg amputated.
MC Katia had been hospitalized since the beginning of July, after being admitted to the health unit for the removal of a tumor on her uterus. The singer was then diagnosed with thrombosis and the medical team saw the need to amputate part of her foot. Days later, the singer had part of her leg amputated above her knee on Tuesday, the 8th.
Already this Sunday afternoon, the singer, entrepreneur and friend of Katia, Veronica Costa, the ‘Blonde Mother of Funk’, confirmed the death of the veteran. “It is with great sadness that I announce that our dear Kátia has passed away. I know that I must understand that God’s plans are different from ours. I want to tell all of you who accompanied her and prayed for her that nothing is in vain” .
