Brazil is the third country that most consumes songs of this genre on Spotify
This year the Hip hop celebrates its 50th anniversary, since when the style emerged it has been influencing music and culture, today covering different audiences and becoming the second most heard musical style on Spotify in the world. In recent years there has been a 68% increase in consumption of this style on a global scale.
Brazil is the third largest consumer of hip hop in the world, behind only the United States and Mexico. O Spotify recorded around 53 million playlists related to the style and its derivatives such as rap, trap and a little funk. Currently, this musical genre represents about 23% of the total reproductions in the Spotify in Brazilian territory and showed a 140% increase in the number of streams since the beginning of the pandemic.
The playlists of Spotify Brazil‘Trapperz Brazil’ and ‘cream’, entered the Top 10 of the most listened playlists in the world in the Hip Hop/Rap segment within the platform. This week the Spotify is promoting a series of exhibitions at Praça das Artes in São Paulo, telling a little about the history of the main Brazilian artists of this musical genre and the culture of hip hop in Brazil.
