Beatles: Why John Lennon disliked the classic Abbey Road

Abbey Road featured hits like ‘Something’ and ‘Come Together,’ but John Lennon wasn’t as impressed with the final result.

One of the great albums Beatles (and music history), Abbey Road (1969) features hits like “Something,” “Come Together” It is “Here Comes the Sun,” but the 12th studio album by Fab Four I didn’t have as much affection for John Lennon as I did for other fans.

As Showbiz Cheat Sheet recalled, the iconic singer gave an interview to Rolling Stone USA in 1971 and spoke about the details of Abbey Road that made him lose interest in the record. “I appreciate the A-side, but I didn’t enjoy that operatic pop style of the other one,” he said.

“Perhaps precisely because it sounds like a bunch of patchwork sewn together rather than complete songs,” continued Lennon. “Everyone praises Abbey Road. But none of the songs had anything to do with each other.”

No common thread, just the fact that we put them together.
