Collector’s edition travels the paths of the Brazilian genre until the summer of 1982, considered ground zero of national rock; dossier hits newsstands this Friday (10)
The summer of 1982 is considered the ground zero of national rock. This period of cultural effervescence brought about a revolution in Brazilian (good) customs, transformed the musical scene of the time and established itself as a pure manifesto of those and these times. To celebrate this milestone, the Rolling Stone Brazillaunches, this Friday (10), the 40 Years of National Rock Dossier. With 100 pages, the special is now available on physical and digital newsstands.
In the edition, we started from the Festival Rock Brasil 40 Anos, a show of this relevance, which brought to the stages the warmth of a Rio de Janeiro marked by the emergence of the Circo Voador concert hall, the film “Menino do Rio” and the programming of Rádio Fluminense FM. , who took the new music to new ears.

“I had an artistic ambition, but on the other hand, a great detachment. I doubt that any other time was cooler than Rio de Janeiro in the early 1980s. It was sensational”, recalls singer Leo Jaime. And it didn’t take long for this “good wave” to quickly spread across the rest of the country.
Added to the keen eye of photographer Marcos Hermes, who immortalized several of the artists that emerged in recent decades – in a portfolio that you can follow in more pages to follow –, the dossier focuses on that “summer of rock”. More than a tribute, it is an essential document for understanding the desires and merits of that diverse and creative generation.
Completing the special edition, we created a definitive list of the 80 most important albums produced by Brazilian rock in the 1980s, as well as a playlist with some of the 250 songs that marked the time. It’s starting to listen to them to immediately return to those good times that are gone… and that continue to be missed today.
