In the penultimate show on the Skyline stage, the American singer HER surprised the audience at The Town, in Sao Paulo, with the participation of Curitiba musician and producer Felipe Bide. Famous for her contemporary R&B, HER invited Bide to perform the Portuguese version of “Best Part”, one of her best-known hits. At the same pace, the duo also performed a fragment of the song “Quero Te Chega”, by Claudinho and Buchecha, which brought the audience to their feet.
Felipe Bide, known for his Portuguese versions of international hits, had already revealed on social media that HER’s invitation had arrived the week before the event, causing heart palpitations, “at 160 bpm”, as the musician had reported on his accounts.
HER had already performed at Rock in Rio, but this was his first performance for the Sao Paulo audience. “This is my first time in Sao Paulo and I love the food and the people,” he said into the microphone. “Brazil is my favorite country in the world. You make me feel so comfortable.”
Show with covers
Despite this, the public didn’t seem to know her very well. The artist, whose real name is Gabriella Wilson, has already won an Oscar and five Grammys, but has only one official album, “Back of My Mind”, due out in 2021. The show was therefore full of covers, reminiscent her beginnings … career, when she revealed herself in a reality show. The option attracted attention because her choices were completely out of fashion. In addition to the success of Claudinho and Buchecha, she sang “Are You Gonna Go My Way”, by Lenny Kravitz, “I Love Rock’n’Roll”, by Joan Jett, and “We Will Rock You”, by Queen.
Aside from these songs, the audience showed little sign of knowing the repertoire, although they showed a willingness to shake and sing the chorus of “Hard Place,” their biggest hit, to applause and the chorus.
The show also caught the attention of singer IZA and her boyfriend, Yuri Lima, who were seen enjoying the show in the crowd.
