Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready announces rock opera inspired by Chris Cornell

Mike McCready was a close friend of Chris Cornell and has worked on a rock opera about the Seattle music scene

The guitarist Mike McCreadyof Pearl Jam, revealed that he included the production of a rock opera in the list of projects he has developed. The composition is inspired by the artist’s own experiences as part of the Seattle music scene, according to an interview with Guitar World.

Chris Cornell, born in the city of Washington state (USA), will also be one of the inspirations. In August, McCready published on his Instagram “Crying Moon”, a tribute to his friend who was a band partner in Temple of the Dog.

“This is a song I wrote as a farewell to my friend Chris Cornell. “Crying Moon” is part of my process of dealing with death. Chris took my world to new heights when he let me touch the Temple Of The Dog“, wrote the guitarist. “When he agreed to sing in Mad Season as part of the show Sonic Evolution with the Seattle Symphony, I literally jumped for joy! The meeting of the Temple Of The Dog that show inspired us to go on tour, which was amazing. Play “War Pigs” live with Chris It was a dream. I love him and I miss him…”

Mike stated that the project could evolve into an album or a show, in which “Crying Moon” would definitely be present: “I’m working on a script and I have about 18 songs that I’m working on, and I sing on them. It’s been a long road .”

I see him [Chris Cornell] as one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all time, as well as being a friend. I love Chris Cornell and I’m working on a small project about the Seattle scene and a rock opera-type musical. It’s something from my experience in the Seattle music scene, and he’s part of that.
