Directed by Maraty, the producer who brought L7 last week, the show will be at the Carioca Club and will also feature Garotos Podres
My War, released by Black Flag in 1984, is an iconic album that has impacted generations for decades and remains a solid mainstay of alternative music. It’s a punk rock album with metal, stoner hardcore and even sludge undertones, which explains the veneration of so many bands, of different genres, for this record. This Friday (27th), in Sao Paulo (Carioca Club), all the songs – and many more – will be played live by the always energetic Black Flag!
Tickets remain on sale Here.
A national punk rock icon, Garotos Podres, will also participate in the event. Local production is by Maraty, with Powerline Music & Books producing. Black Flag’s full tour of Latin America comes from VĂȘnus Concerts.
In this new visit to the capital of Sao Paulo, three years after their debut in Brazil in the same Carioca Club in March 2020 (also performed by Powerline), Black Flag promises a two-hour show to celebrate almost 40 years since the second presence of the band album, My War, as well as playing other hits.
Black Flag is a punk rock institution, a solid pillar that has championed the style and its antics since 1976 and influences countless bands that have emerged from the ’80s to the present day, even as a driving force behind what the hardcore would like. become and sound like.
In addition to the overwhelming and surprising punk/hardcore start with the album Damaged (1981), Black Flag remained impactful three years later with My War (1984). Containing six songs that originally appeared on the debut album, the album’s B-side featured tense noises and a dark punk sound.
My War is an even faster and heavier Black Flag which, unusual as it may sound, is influenced by Black Sabbath and to this day is an important and influential album for the sludge metal and pro grunge scenes.
For this tour in Brazil, Black Flag is Greg Ginn (founder and only member of the original lineup), Mike Vallely, Harley Duggan and Charles Wiley.
