The process would have been traumatic: “It was all abrupt and sad, and then it was a mess,” he wrote Pinnock. “We were a family, the four of us were like sisters, and it had been that way since we were teenagers, so it’s no exaggeration to say that losing a member was a traumatic experience.”

When you’ve felt so much love and support with another person for so long and then suddenly it disappears, you never fully understand why it hurts.

With bandmates Perrie Edwards It is Jade Thirlwell, Pinnock needed therapy. Furthermore, they had to “move on, to something even brighter and stronger.”

Nelson had already discussed the matter. She explained, for example, how a tweet made by Katy Hopkins about her weight affected her so much that she considered taking her own life: “I’m literally starving. I drank Diet Coke for a week and I still keep being called fat” (via NME).
