Tupac’s prison mugshot and ID card are being auctioned
Items used by Tupac Shakur during the period he was imprisoned will be auctioned. The mugshot, bust image made for the police, and prison ID can be purchased.
The black and white photo would have been taken on February 28, 1995, when Tupac served time in New York on sexual abuse charges. According to the TMZ (via NME), it can reach a value of US$35 thousand.
The prison identification card — which includes the artist’s photo, name, number, height and eye and hair colors — is expected to be auctioned for around US$75,000. The document would be a duplicate, as the rapper lost the original. Therefore, the buyer will also bring an application for a new card, which says: “I lost my identification and I need a new one. Thank you.”
All of these items were returned to the family of Shakur when he left jail, but they ended up in the hands of a private collector. The original prison card was auctioned in 2019, for US$30,000. In this year, Drake took the rapper’s iconic ring for US$1 million.
