Spectators watched Miles Teller take to the skies Top Gun: Maverick last month but, here in June, you’ll see him play another role in a very different movie. The star will soon be seen inside spider heada science fiction thriller that will be available this week for those who have it netflix subscriptions . Even if the film is far from being The sequel to Tom Cruise’s critically acclaimed legacy the production reunited Teller with Dissident director Joseph Kosinski. What is there to wonder why the actor was ready to collaborate with the director again so soon.
Now it must be said that Top Gun: Maverick it was delayed for two years, so under normal circumstances (without COVID) the releases wouldn’t have been that close. However, this new version was the first film Miles Teller worked on after Dissident. Gossipify met with Teller at spider head press conference, during which we asked him how far he had gone in the script before signing for Joseph Kosinski’s latest film:
Probably not too much with this one, just because it’s Joe’s. Before this movie, we had just shot two movies and I had a great experience with him. I mean, I’m not going to say that he could offer me anything, but he could probably offer me a lot, and I would just say “Yes”. But I really enjoyed the world. I think Joe is getting into it, after doing Oblivion and Tron [:Legacy] and the worlds it is able to visually create while keeping it, you know, with really rich characters and interpretations. I was excited, but I had never done anything like this before. Fortunately for me, the script was also very good.
We can understand why the star, who also worked with Joseph Kosinski in 2017 Only the brave, I was happy to go into production. Indeed, the director knows how to create visually appealing worlds for the big screen, but he can also keep them grounded with great performances. When it comes to finding talent, Kosinski has proven to be highly skilled in management to throw Above: Gun Maverick Tom Cruise , although he initially had no interest in making the sequel. Also, when the film went into production, the director was able to speak well to get the location for the amazing hangar stage .
However, I doubt he will see much aviation-related iconography in his new film effort. What the spider head trailer revealed, filming of the film in the near future takes place in a facility, where inmates voluntarily participate in experiments involving emotion-altering drugs, in order to reduce their sentences. Miles Teller’s Jeff and Jurnee Smollett’s Lizzy take center stage, as the two deal with their personal stories as they discover their feelings for each other. Plus, they’ll have to contend with ruthless (but resourceful) prison warden Steve Abnesti, played by the ever charming Chris Hemsworth.
This could be another solid addition to Miles Teller’s growing filmography. The actor has been incredibly busy lately and hasn’t had time to officially enjoy the success Top Gun: Maverick. But he told us on the trip that he was able to celebrate through some of the previews and his general fan interactions.
He may be taking a break soon but, right now, he seems more than excited spider head arrive. With Only the brave Yes Dissident, he and Joseph Kosinski have had excellent theatrical releases. We’ll see if they can get it right with this wild-looking sci-fi movie.
