Faro Time | Melody explores the act of singing Anitta’s version without permission

Increasingly known for releasing versions of songs without authorization, singer Melody caused a moment of concern in Rodrigo Faro by participating in Record TV’s “Hora do Faro” program this Sunday (11/5). She was invited to perform her new hit, “Cara de Anjo”. However, the revelation that the song is a revisitation of “Meiga e Abusada”, one of Anitta’s first hits, sparked a series of questions from the presenter.

Melody admitted the inspiration, but pointed out, “Actually, when they sent it to me, I didn’t even remember it was Anitta’s.” She also criticized Anitta’s original clip, suggesting that the “previous” version was “a bit dated”, which is why she gave a personal touch to her interpretation of her.

Are you at risk?

Rodrigo Faro then questioned the legal authorization for the reinterpretation. “Just one question: you called Anitta to ask [autorização]?”. Faced with Melody’s refusal, Faro expressed his concern: “Is there a risk that you sing here and then, suddenly, the program goes on air?” The young singer responded with humor, pretending to leave the stage before returning for the performance.

The situation took on a lighter tone with the humorous interventions of Faro, who joked: “Run and download the music now before it cancels again. Anitta, I had nothing to do with it, ok?”

The discussion continued after the show, with Faro pressing Anitta’s reaction: “It’s the first time you’ve sung this song, right?” This was confirmed by Melody, who when asked about Anitta’s authorization replied: “I put it on the internet, she saw it and said: ‘Do I authorize it?’. And that’s it.”

Faro smiled yellowly and joked with the audience: “If you hear her singing it’s because Anitta authorized it.”
