Exactly one year ago Brazil lost one of its great voices. Gal Costa is greatly missed and is a musical legacy that will never be erased and to revisit his work, Mundo Bita and singer-songwriter Gilberto Gil have announced a new video featuring the classic Totally cheap.
As well as the original audio of the disc recording Singof 1974, provided by the record company Universal music, the video features Gal as an animation character. This is the fourth and final clip of the project Rádio Bita – Special Gilberto Gil.
For the singer and one of the members of Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL), one of the things that caught Gal’s attention the most and pushed her to record the song at that time was the subjectivity of the composition in relation to time and emotions: “If you are happy, it doesn’t matter how cold it is, it doesn’t matter how hot it is, it doesn’t matter if I forget my commitment to this and what happened ten minutes ago. This dissolution of time, in a timeless fluidity, above everything, above all dimensions. This was one of the things that attracted Gal to the song, how beautiful it is that Mundo Bita is making ‘Barato Total’ dedicated to young people”, to celebrate Gil.
In this new adventure, the character of Gilberto Gil goes through several challenges together Bita and the group formed by children Lilla, Dan AND Tito. However, with everyone’s good humor and optimism, everything that went wrong for the friends was resolved.
What they didn’t foresee is that they would also count on help beyond special help during this journey. Gal Costa, who, in the animation, is represented as a sort of magical nature being. In the clip the character joins the group and everyone has fun listening to lots of music, finding good alternatives for all the obstacles that arise during the game.
Postal Codecreator of Bita World and one of the founders of the production company Mr Plot, tells how the idea of bringing the two singers together in this version of was born Totally cheap: “We had a great desire to record with Gal Costa for a long time. We even tried, but the pandemic upset our plans. Today it is no longer possible to make a new recording with her, but when we told Gil about the idea of tribute, thought it was great to use the original voice. Putting Mundo Bita next to these two icons of our art is a privilege,” States.
The clip Totally cheap will enter the Youtube this Thursday (9), at 10, on the official channel of Bita World.
