Mr. Catra’s children pay tribute to their father in a posthumous album

The 22 recognized children of Mr Catra (1968 – 2018) have teamed up with the Labidad record label to release a posthumous album by the funk singer. In addition to the album, the heirs are also preparing films, a musical and a documentary to celebrate their father’s legacy.

“With all due respect to samba” was recorded before the singer’s death in 2018. At the time, Catra got in touch with producer Pedrinho Ferreira, who was the musical director of the group Só Pra Contrair, to develop the his repertoire in the musical genre.

In the album, Mr Catra traverses aspects of classical samba, romantic pagode and samba rock. Two versions of the project were recorded in 2012 and 2015, both never released commercially by the funk singer. The album is available on digital platforms from Sunday (11/5), the date on which the artist would have turned 55.

And there’s more!

In the coming months, audiences will be able to hear Mr. Catra sing other musical genres, such as hip-hop, trap, electronic music and national rock. The funk singer will also have two albums with pop music artists: “Elas Cantam Catra” and “Eles Cantam Catra”.

Catra’s children are also preparing the release of a musical about the artist, which is under production, as well as recording a documentary and a fiction film. The singer has yet to be honored with an animated film.
