Melim celebrates end of cycle with DVD release [ENTREVISTA]

One of the great phenomena of recent years on the music scene, the Melim Bandreleases the DVD this Thursday, 9th, on digital platforms Best of three (2023). Recently the members announced the end of the band’s cycle. We still don’t know a lot of details about each person’s individual careers. The focus now is the release of the DVD and the commitments as a group until the end of the year — the company’s agenda Melim It runs until December 31st.

At a press conference to talk about the DVD, the brothers said that the idea of ​​recording a show doesn’t come from now. “I think every artist dreams of recording a DVD,” he reflected Gabiwho added that the Best of three arrives at the perfect time. “We were able to provide the closure our fans deserved, because we went through three new albums,” adds the singer.

In addition to the film, the DVD serves as a gift for fans, immortalizing the brothers’ journey. Rodrigo, who took over the production of the project, says it was “crazy”, at the same time, classifying the experience as “incredible”. The singer had the partnership of Rafael Castilhol to make the project happen. “I wanted it to be like a celebration. The fact that the fans were together brought this magic. You could feel it was a special day.”

The DVD has 22 tracks covering the band’s three albums — Melim (2020), and Loves and Flowers (2021) Yard (2022). Despite this, the Melim has already recorded an album dedicated to Djavanwith songs from the idol, as well as a live version of the first album.

“The best way to close this cycle is with this commemorative project,” he said Diogo. For the singer, the DVD managed to convey the grandeur of the band’s eight years and everything that the fans deserve. “Despite being a project that, at first, would be more for the visuals, the musical was excellent.” The musician said that he prefers the Melhor de Três version to the studio versions of the songs.

A Melim has a trajectory that, however short it may seem, can be classified as intense. The brothers went through the talent program Super star (2014) and were nominated for the Latin Grammy for the most recent album, Yard. “What I’m most proud of is that we built a story based on what we believe. We always let music and art speak louder,” he reflects Gabi.

The idea of ​​the DVD precedes the idea of ​​interrupting the band’s activities. But the conversation about ending the cycle already existed between the brothers. “We didn’t know exactly what it would be like. It’s difficult to plan too far in advance because things happen,” he explains. Diogo. They already had in mind that in any scenario the priority had to be the fans, who have been following the trio’s trajectory from the beginning. “Eight years, with the intensity it was, is a lifetime. I have trouble remembering what I was like before Melim,” he adds.

Rodrigo adds that it is also not possible to do everything at the last minute, because in addition to them, as artists, there are also partners who help in the execution of the projects. “In fact, when we made Quintal, we could have divided it into two albums with 8 tracks, and we negotiated with the record company that the last product would be re-recordings of career-impacting songs.”

The band brought to the DVD songs that hadn’t been played in shows for some time and songs that hadn’t been performed yet. As is the case of “Street Girl“, for example.

“Even though the album is almost a year old, it feels so new to me,” he reflects. Gabi. She says that the songs Melim They have longevity and tend, for example, to maintain the number of executions for long periods. “We have three or four songs in the Top15 on the radio to this day, it’s crazy because we compete with ourselves.” Therefore, according to the artist, they do not feel the need to release new music all the time.
