The Latin Grammy was Colombian. After Shakira won the Song of the Year category at the awards ceremony held in Spain on Thursday evening (11/16), her compatriot Karol G won the Album of the Year trophy for “Mañana Ser Bonito”, presented by Anitta.
Karol G was only the fourth woman in history to win the Album of the Year trophy at the awards show. And she also won the awards for best urban music album for “Mañana Will Be Bonito” and best urban performance for “TQG”, in collaboration with Shakira.
Brazilian performance
With little representation, Brazil has only won regional trophies this year. The winners were Gaby Amarantos (Roots Music Album in Portuguese), Marília Mendonça (Country Music Album), João Donato (MPB Album), Tiago Iorc and Duda Rodrigues (Song in Portuguese) and Planet Hemp (Rock Album in Portuguese).
Finally, the Venezuelan Joaquina was the one who won the New Artist award, beating the Brazilian Natascha Falcão.
Karol is the first female artist of the urban genre to win the Latin Grammy for album of the year in history, and only four women overall ¡QUE REINA ERES CAROLINA! 🩷
