A year after his death, singer Erasmo Carlos has revealed a new song. The song released this Friday (24/11) is a collaboration with Gaby Amarantos, it is called “A Menina da Felicidade”, and recalls the singer’s samba rock phase.
The recording is part of an album that Erasmo started recording last year and which will finally be released in April 2024. Record label Som Livre provided more details about the project on Erasmo’s official Instagram.
“In 2024, the album designed by Erasmo will reach the world via Som Livre and ‘A Menina da Felicidade’ is the first extract of this work, made only of unreleased songs. The young guard of our music is very well represented here by the star Gaby Amarantos, one of the most important voices in Brazil in recent times. Gaby disguises herself as nature in a beautiful duet with Erasmo”.
The text then explains that the album was aimed at new musical trends and a younger audience. “The idea was to reach the future of Jovem Guarda, that is, the girls and boys who make up the new history of music today. Erasmo recorded ideas, scribbled lyrics, sketched melodies, recorded ‘demos’ and created entire songs,” he adds the text.
The posthumous album is produced by Marcus Preto and Erasmo’s son Leo Esteves and will feature another track with Erasmo’s vocals. The rest of the album will feature guests such as Tim Bernardes (one of the singer’s last partners) and Russo Passapusso, of BaianaSystem.
The material includes the discoveries of Erasmus’ son, the notebooks of lyrics left by the artist, with various doodles, notes and poems – material that goes from 1973 until shortly before the singer’s death and will be part of the album’s graphics -, as well as demo tapes with unreleased and rare material.
