Tyler, The Creator prefers music to be released on Tuesdays again
Tyler, The Creator argues that songs should be released again on Tuesdays, not Fridays. “I know people think that, because of the weekend, they can listen and everything, and the streams increase”, pondered the artist in an interview with the journalist Narduwar (via NME).
“I think it’s more like passive listening at parties, or when people take time out to go to the gym, then they’re not listening,” he argued.
For Tylerreleases on Tuesdays would allow audiences to listen to new music on the way to work or school: “Do you really have that hour, or 30 minutes, to really dig in and listen, because you know that once it’s over, you’ll have to work”.
The songs have been released worldwide on Fridays since 2015. The initiative, which unifies the releases, seeks to curb piracy.
The musician also commented on releasing the news at midnight: “Working on an album for so long and putting so much energy into it for it to be released at midnight seems disrespectful to me.” He also pointed out that, at this time, half of the people in the United States are sleeping, while the other half are getting ready to go to bed.
