Megadeth: Dave Mustaine and the fight over French fries at a Brazilian festival

Metal Open Air, festival canceled on the third day, was marked by the lack of structure and organization

Thiago Bianchimember of the metal band night and former vocalist of shamanreported a ‘outburst’ of Dave Mustainelead singer of megadethbecause of fries in the dressing room during a Brazilian metal festival, Metal Open Air in 2012. The report was published in a report by the G1.

“A friend of ours who was working with the megadeth passed holding a bottle of wine and gave a very loud shout in the hallway saying ‘the Dave Mustaine Said he wanted his fucking chips.’ And she threw a glass bottle on the floor. Everyone looked like that, right? Cum! Three hours to see a potato chip,” said Bianchi.

O megadeth was the main attraction of the festival and Bianchi explains that the absence of potatoes shows the lack of organization and structure of the event, which was marked by the cancellation on the third day.

“This could be really serious, because if you can’t deliver a potato chip to the biggest musician of your night… Something’s really wrong. It turned our red light on. Will this event go to shit? Then everyone started turning on the antennas. Everyone started to go crazy.”

The Festival

O Metal Open Air was a Brazilian rock and metal festival held from April 20 to 22, 2012 in the city of São Luís, capital of the State of Maranhão. The event was known for several problems that arose since the first release.

At the time, great bands from the scene were announced, such as RBasement acts, Saxon, Venom and the Rock ‘N’ Roll Allstars, Megadeth, Matanza among others. However, the lack of structure led to the cancellation of the event. Of the 45 confirmed bands, only 14 performed.

The camping facilities lacked toilets, security, food and sanitation on the first day. Light, stage and backstage suppliers were not paid by one of the producers, and the same happened with many of the contracted bands, who refused to play because they had not received the agreed payment.

In 2018, justice condemned the festival organizers to reimburse and pay compensation for moral damages to consumers.
