Peter Gabriel releases “I/O”, his first album in over 20 years

Legendary British singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, iconic voice of Genesis we 70’s and owner of classics in his successful solo career as Solsbury Hill, steam, sledgehammer AND In your eyesreleased his latest studio album this Friday (1). Ihis first new job in 20 yearswhich is now available on digital platforms through Universal Music, via Virgo Music.

In IGabriel dives two stereo mixes different in 12 songs from the albumfull of grace, gravity and great beauty that offer a welcome confirmation not only of the artist’s continued ability to write songs that make you stop everything and listen, but also of the soulful voice, which remains perfectly and delightfully intact.

Throughout the album, intelligent and thoughtful (and thought-provoking) songs address life and the universe. Our connection to the world around us – I’m just a part of everything (“I’m just a part of everything”), Peter sings on the title track, I or.

It’s a recurring theme throughout the album, as are the passage of time, mortality and grief, as well as themes such as injustice, surveillance and the roots of terrorism. But this is not a solemn album. While thoughtful, the atmosphere is never off-putting; I/O is musically happy, often joyful and ultimately hopeful, complemented by the cheerful closing song, Live and let live.
