Friends and neighbors, Gilberto Gil and Jorge Ben Jor meet for tea

The two have already recorded an album together, but have never toured, despite fans’ requests.

The singer and composer Gilberto Gil has published a photographic retrospective on the month of November, the popular social media dump. Among the personal and performance images of him on stage, one stands out: him and Jorge Ben Jor at a prosaic tea party.

Gil and Ben Jor are friends and have already made an album together, Gil, Jorge – Ogum, Xangô, released in 1975. At the time the two decided not to tour. The meeting was limited to the puck. While fans always pay to see Gil and Ben Jor on stage, especially at this time when MPB medallions are experiencing a new phase of recognition, there is no indication that this will happen.

However, they have already met on stage a few times, such as in a recent performance of Ben Jor at the Copacabana Palace where Gil gave a slice of cake.

Ben Jor, in fact, has been living in the hotel in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro for some years. Gil lives next door in the Chopin Building, the same address as influencer Narcisa Tamborindeguy.
