In Febrile activity, Adam Sandler plays a Philadelphia 76ers scout named Stanley Sugarman, who discovers an extremely talented basketball player (Juancho Hernangomez) and then trains him for the NBA Combine and Draft. By the end of the film, Stanley was assigned an assistant coaching job for the Sixers, but his client, Bo, is recruited by the Boston Celtics. During the film’s credits, Stanley watches from the bench as Bo takes on the Sixers, and Jeremiah Zagar told the ReelBlend podcast that this footage was captured during a real NBA competition that Hernangomez was a part of.

As the director explains:

It’s a real game, so what we did for the credits is what we wanted to do, because Juancho was traded to the Celtics (in real life) at the very end, at the end of the season. And then … all the producers, we all got together. And I was like, ‘We have to shoot a game. And (my cinematographer) was like, ‘Okay, okay. We will solve it. … What we did was put together Adam and Doc (Rivers) and the coaches, the real coaches, to shoot the final sequence. And one day we turned to the part of Adam, the part of Doc and the part of Coach. And then we walk into the field during a real game and shoot Juancho and the rest of the team. And then we just did some VFXs of Juancho’s new issue on his shirt. So it is a real game what you are looking at. And these are real moments that you really see in the game.

Like most stocks in Febrile activitythese scenes have an authenticity that comes from the use of real NBA players who have gone through the trials to become professionals. Febrile activity co-star Anthony Edwards says so talk about garbage in the film it’s not that intense in the real league and sports footage get more inspiration from boxing movies what basketball movies do. But showing real NBA players taking part in a game helps take Hustle to another level. In fact, Jeremiah Zagar said he captured moments with real Philadelphia Sixers players that he couldn’t fake. He went on to tell ReelBlend:

Actually, Matisse (Thybulle) took, I don’t know if you remember, the credits were one of my favorite parts of the whole movie. But when Matisse falls, he is knocked out, the whole stadium is silent. Everyone was terrified that he was really hurt. And then he stood up and said they were meddling with him and the other player. It is a real moment that happened in real time during this game, like every moment of this game. But it was kind of a moment (where) I was like, ‘Wow, this is crazy we’re capturing this.
