Gilberto Gil’s presentation suffered an electrical failure in Recife, in the early hours of this Friday (8/12), during a simple tribute to the late Gal Costa (1945-2022). The Bahian singer sang the song “Esotérico” at the time of the blackout, which lasted about 20 minutes.
“They’re telling me in my ear that there was a problem with the lighting, I know. The audience didn’t notice, they thought it was due to the show,” Gil said, prompting laughter from the audience in attendance. During the event he recalled the great successes of his career and also paid homage to artists such as Chico Science (1966-1997), by Nação Zumbi.
During the presentation, Gilberto Gil mentioned the family’s participation and invited his nephew Francisco Gil to come on stage. The family sang the main songs of the band Os Gilsons, such as “Varias Queixas” and “Pra Gente Acordar”.
