Katy Perry should be one of the attractions of Rock in Rio in 2024, at least this is what Ancelmo Gois’s article in the newspaper O Globo states. The festival organization, however, has not made the news official.
According to another newspaper, the English The Sun, the singer was about to release her seventh studio album – the first since 2020’s “Smile” -, which would have been accompanied by a world tour (the first in six years). She was away from international shows having spent the last two years with a successful residency in Las Vegas.
A source quoted by the Sun said that “Katy has been working on her most personal album for much of the last two years” and that “she has done so on her own terms and it is very different to anything she has released before”.
In early 2023, when performing at King Charles’ Coronation concert, he revealed that he was “composing a lot”. And in May he revealed plans for a big tour for 2024. “I still love making music. I still love spreading light and love. I know there are a lot of people who couldn’t make it to Vegas the last time I was I went on tour in 2018. I got to go out and see the kids who couldn’t go to Vegas,” she said at the time.
The last time the singer came to Brazil was with the “Witness” album tour, which touched the cities of Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro.

Although Katy Perry was not officially announced at Rock in Rio, the confirmed names continue to be Ed Sheeran, Ne-Yo, Joss Stone, Imagine Dragons, Angelique Kidjo, Lulu Santos, Ivete Sangalo, Ludmilla, Paralamas do Sucesso, Jão and Luisa Sonza. .
The festival will take place over two weekends, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 September 2024, in Cidade do Rock, Rio de Janeiro.
The edition will mark the 40th anniversary of the event and will have a new Mundo stage, a larger Sunset, a new area called Global Village and other new features.
