Sophie Ellis Bextor’s hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ had a new peak in reproductions after being included in the ‘Saltburn’ soundtrack

Sophie was in the shadow of his partnership with the Italian DJ Spiller in “Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)”, from 2000, when he released the single Take Me Home — cover of the homonymous track by Cher. The song was included on the singer’s debut album, Read My Lips (2001), and reached number two in the UK music chart UK Singles Chart.

The album, with sounds typical of 1980s music, received several negative reviews and was not considered commercial enough. Only with the release of “Murder on the Dance Floor”, the second single from the album, Sophie saw his career on the rise.

Years later, in 2023, Ellis-Bextor returned to the spotlight with “Murder on the Dance Floor” when it was included on the soundtrack of Saltburn, during a scene in which the character of Barry Keoghan dances naked in a mansion. Watch the trailer:
