Singer and actress Selena Gomez (“Only Murders in the Building”) will play Linda Ronstadt in a biopic about the country music star. John Boylan, a Ronstadt businessman, and James Keach, producer of the 2019 documentary “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” are responsible for producing the film, which does not yet have a title or director.
Ronstadt’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts spread the news, accompanied by the message “It all started with a simple dream”.
The two artists, who share Mexican origins and are physically similar, have already met at Ronstadt’s home to discuss the project. Additionally, Selena recently shared on her Instagram Stories a photo of Ronstadt’s autobiography, “Simple Dreams,” released in 2013. This title also names the singer’s 1977 album, which earned triple platinum certification.
Linda Ronstadt achieved success in the 1970s with albums like “Heart Like a Wheel” and “Simple Dreams”, becoming recognized in several musical genres, but mainly for the intersection of country and pop. She the artist has won 11 Grammy Awards, but she had to retire in 2011 after revealing that she suffered from supranuclear palsy.
Coincidentally, Selena is also battling a serious illness, Lupus, which has already caused her to put her career on hold.
The release date of the Linda Ronstadt biopic has not yet been announced.
