Sophie Ellis Bextor’s hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ was included on the ‘Saltburn’ soundtrack
Sophie Ellis-Bextor took the family to watch Saltburn, a film in which his hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” was included. “I went to a screening with my whole family — including my mother and my eldest son — and, luckily, we all survived and loved the film,” said the singer in an interview with NME.
“I got that feeling that I think is really delightful when afterwards you just want to think about the film and talk about it. There was a whole atmosphere to it and I just wanted to get back to that mental state as quickly as I could,” he continued. “It was funny and there were so many great songs, so it was special to be a part of it.”
Ellis-Bextor also talked about the reaction of the mother and her teenage son to the controversial scenes in the film Emerald Fennell. “I wasn’t too worried about my mom,” she admitted.
We don’t tend to watch particularly challenging movies together, but it was more about the fact that my teenage son was sitting between his mother and grandmother. I just kept thinking, ‘I hope he’s okay!’ There were definitely a few moments where I had my head in my hands thinking, ‘That’s a lot!’ But he was completely fine and handled it very calmly. He said it was one of the 10 best films he had ever seen, so he was very happy!
