Musician Greg Wilson, lead singer and guitarist of Blue Etílios, has died at the age of 60 from rectal cancer, which spread to his lung and liver. The information was released on Saturday (20/1) on the band’s official profile. “Greg Wilson just moved on. Everyone in the band is very sorry, as is everyone who knew him. He fought cancer with high spirit, like a true warrior,” the publication revealed.
Wilson was born in the state of Mississippi, United States, but became a naturalized Brazilian. He joined the Blues Etílios in 1985, when, together with Flávio Guimarães, Cláudio Bedran, Otávio Rocha and Gil Eduardo, he transformed the group into one of the greatest representatives of the national blues. In total, Blues Etílios have released 13 albums and have participated in and opened shows for iconic artists such as Sugar Blue, Magic Slim, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy.
The artist was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, but continued to perform with Blues Etitle until last December, “despite numerous difficulties”, as described in the band’s profile.
