Star Trek: Strange New Worlds delivered his first full fantasy episode with “The Elysian Kingdom” as Dr. M’Benga lived the storybook which he regularly reads to his daughter. Paramount + subscribers they were invited on an unconventional medieval adventure and saw the Agency main crew players in separate roles that would otherwise not be applicable. For instance, Melissa Naviathis is Erica Ortegas he held out like a brave knight and even participated in a beautiful fight scene. Navia revealed to Gossipify a funny story behind the moment, while also sharing the kind of fantasy episode he’d like the show to explore next.
I had the pleasure of meeting Melissa Navia before “The Elysian Kingdom” and learned of the moment she discovered that Ortegas, who is usually the ship’s helmsman they would have the task of defending themselves in a sword fight strange new worldYes, Navia revealed that after learning that Ortega undertook a chivalrous transformation in the episode, she quickly left to seek help from the stunt team. We got clues about the wardrobe, makeup, hair, what was going on. I had an illustration of who I was going to play … and I was like, ‘I’m playing a gentleman! It is so incredible. And so, before I even got the script, by myself, I went to call the stunt team. I was like, “I don’t know what’s going on, but I heard I was fighting with the sword in eight episodes.” So we started working on all this choreography.
Melissa Navia wasn’t completely clueless about training, noting that at one point he had been involved in a martial arts meltdown and played a knight in an indie film. Fortunately, she had a head start in preparing for the epic kind of showdown Emigrate rarely brings to the table.
The only problem, however, was that they didn’t even know exactly what the scene would entail, so the actress and stunt coordinators started working on various moves. Hilariously, Melissa Navia revealed the truth Star Trek: Strange New Worlds The stage that the fans saw wasn’t even as big and complicated as the one she and the combat choreographer team were practicing, so they had to rework a few things. According to Navia:
It’s really funny because the more we discover the story, [we realized] we ended up practically fighting in a ship corridor. In our wildest dreams, we had a lot more space. So we choreographed all these fight scenes with 15 people and in a slightly more spacious area, so when the time came, we had to change everything. But I think it’s because of all that acrobatic training and enthusiasm for the role that it helped.
The fight scene may not have had the vast battlefield Melissa Navia had prepared for, but the execution was flawless nonetheless. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds fans had a fantastic sword fight that, while short, looked really cool and was one of the best action sequences of the season.

Overall, Melissa Navia enjoyed the disguise experience for “The Elysian Kingdom” and is ready for the next great side quest whenever it arrives. In fact, as she explained some things she loved about her costume, she explained how she inspired her to present the next amazing episode to the writing team:
I know you won’t see it, but I’ll post photos of [the costume]. I have the most beautiful suspenders underneath and I have these leather pants. We say to ourselves, and I say to the authors, “We have to do something similar in the era of prohibition. Maybe I sing and dance, gangster. I just want to wear braces and a hat again.
it would be nice to see Star Trek: Strange New Worlds touches the era of prohibition and takes all Al Capone-y into space. Or even if they were exploring how a similar situation would turn out on another planet. (Someone writes to Spock and Luciano.)
But we will have to wait and see what awaits us in the future. While something this fantastic isn’t slated for season 2, Melissa Navia (as well as cristina chong) absolutely he assured me that it will continue to be fantastic and that something special is something special is coming . I can’t wait to see everything that happens, but of course we will enjoy everything that awaits us in the rest of the first season before it happens.
