10 national albums that turn 10 years old in 2024 [LISTA]

2014 was a year full of incredible releases for Brazilian music, we’ve selected 10 including Racionais Mc’s, Silva, Anelis Assumpção and more

2014 was a year of great releases in the Brazilian music market. Between veterans and new names on the scene, we have selected ten releases that complete a decade in 2024.

Genres such as rock, rap and MPB, several genres were included among this year’s releases. Some, like the Banda do Mar, made a splash with their melodies and, since then, we haven’t heard from any other releases — although we haven’t given up hope. Others, like the Titans and the Racionais MC’s, renowned names, released albums that became instant classics. See the full list.

Titans – Nheengatu

Nheengatu is the name is an indigenous language of the Tupi-Guarani family. This was the name chosen by the Titans to name the band’s 18th album. Inspired by the troubled context in Brazil at the time of the release, the rockers used an illustration of the Tower of Babel to translate the feelings provoked by the country’s moment.

Banda do Mar – Banda do Mar

Banda do Mar was the name given to the project that brought together Marcelo Camelo, Mallu Magalhães It is Fred Pinto Ferreira. The trio released their first album in 2014 — and only one, so far. With 12 tracks, Camel It is Magellan are divided into the vocals of songs that vary between calmer melodies and more upbeat grooves that, even after a decade of release, remain very current.

The self-titled album by Zombie Nation marked the band’s first release since Hunger for Everything (2007) — not counting the 2012 live album and the project in partnership with Mundo Livre SA. Throughout the tracks, pop and rock merge with the manguebeat of which they are precursors. The bold result couldn’t be better.

Alice Caymmi – Queen of Lightning

On his second album, Alice Caymmi She shows herself to be a mature singer who is confident in her art. With a powerful sound, the artist dares with re-recordings of Mc Marcinho It is Maysa, adding your own personality. Here we have an album with pulsating Brazilianness.

Juçara Marçal – Incarnado

Juçara Marçal plays with different sounds throughout Incarnate. The production of the album is signed by the partner of Metá Metá, Kiko Dinucci, repeating in the solo project the partnership that already works so well in the group. Criolo – Summon Your Buddha

Summon Your Buddha can be seen as a continuation of the Knot in the Earfirst album by Creole, but here the artist raises the bar. With production of Daniel Ganjaman, Guilherme Held It is Marcelo Cabral, we heard songs influenced by the moment Brazil was going through. A lot of reflection, packed with top quality musicality.

It is no secret to anyone the impact and importance of Racionais MC’s for Brazilian music, in Colors and Valuesthe group reunites for their first new album in more than a decade.
