Singer revealed British rock influences from Blur or Oasis in her next album, despite classifying the artists’ attitudes as “detestable”
Liam Gallagher responded to the statements of Dua Lipa, that Britpop bands would be “hateful”. The singer’s statement was made in her interview for the global cover of Rolling Stone last week, in which he stated that his new album would draw on musical influences from British rock Oasis or Blur – but not the sometimes “detestable” attitude of its members.

Asked via X regarding Dua Lipa’s statement, the former Oasis frontman declared that “she’s just jealous”. Gallagher’s response sparked even more questions about the matter, but the musician did not elaborate further.
In the interview with Rolling StoneDua Lipa revealed that her next album, scheduled for release in 2024, will be heavily inspired by artists such as Primal Scream It is Massive Attackas well as a “I don’t care” attitude from bands like Blur or Oasis, as “a tribute to UK rave culture”.
“This record feels a little more raw,” she said. “I want to capture the essence of youth, freedom, fun and just letting things happen, good or bad. You can’t change that. You just have to roll with the punches of what’s going on in your life.”
Questioned, however, about how artists like Noel Gallagher or Damon Albarn have referred to female pop artists in the past, with attacks on Adele Or the Taylor Swiftfor example, she explained that the influence is only musical, not personal:
“I haven’t actually had any encounters with them,” she says. “Sometimes you have to separate the art from the person… It’s more like the musical element, the aspect of it that I’m really connected to. The way I [alguns artistas do britpop] they acted, the things they did, are detestable for sure. That’s one of their vibes.”
She even addressed the toxicity of some male rock artists:
“There’s so much toxicity in the way people wanted their artists or their musicians,” she says. “If they weren’t like that, they would have been seen as boring, and I think that’s such a bad way of looking at things.”
