Pharrell Williams is working with the Lego Group and Focus Features to create an animated film about the singer and music producer
Pharrell Williams joined the The Lego Groupto the director Morgan Neville and the Focus Features to give life to Piece by Piece, an animation about the life of the singer and producer. The film is due to premiere in theaters on October 11th.
“Uninterested in making a traditional film about his life, Pharrell decided to tell his story in a way that freed the public’s imagination. Developed from his singular vision, Piece by Piece defines genres and expectations to transport audiences to a Lego world where anything is possible,” revealed a press release (via NME).
“Pharrell Williams is a true pioneer whose influence on music, art and fashion continually reshapes global culture with an undeniable sense of joy,” said the president of Focus Features, Peter Kujawski. “By joining the unparalleled Morgan Neville and the unlimited creativity of Legotheir visionary spirit comes to life in a totally unique and uplifting way that will inspire everyone to dance, sing and use their voice to build the world they want to see, brick by brick and piece by piece.”
“Five years ago, Pharrell Williams approached me with the idea of helping him tell his story through Lego animation,” he recalled. Neville in the statement. “It was one of those rare moments where I knew in just a second that this was a journey I wanted to go on. I am grateful to our partners at Focus Features It’s from Lego Group for believing in our crazy mission. We’ve assembled an incredible team of creative collaborators to help make a new kind of film. I can’t wait for people to see it.”
