Swift sold her Dassault Falcon 900 private jet after receiving widespread criticism over its contribution to global warming
Taylor Swift sold one of his private jets. According to the TMZ, the singer completed the sale of her Dassault Falcon 900 jet, which she had owned since 2009, at the end of last month. The price for which the aircraft was sold was not disclosed, but a new one of the same model costs around US$40 million.
Swift’s decision came amid criticism about emissions that contribute to global warming caused by the artist’s jet travel.
The lawyers of Taylor have threatened legal action against a University of Central Florida student who was tracking the singer’s private jet. Jack Sweeney is known for his social media accounts in which he shares public information about the trajectories of celebrity planes.
The data published by Sweeney can be found through the Federal Aviation Administration and signals that private jets transmit. It also shares the estimate of emissions that contribute to global warming.
The student received a letter from his lawyer Swift, Katie Wright Morronedeclaring that the artist “has no choice but to pursue any and all legal recourse” if he doesn’t stop his “stalking and harassing behavior” (via The Washington Post).
The letter also states that the actions of Sweeney caused the Swift and his family “direct and irreparable harm, as well as emotional and physical anguish,” which intensified his “constant state of fear for his personal safety.”
Jack Sweeney told the The Washington Post which considers the letter “an attempt to scare you into not sharing public data.” He also pointed out that the threat was made in the same period in which Swift suffered criticism for the environmental impacts caused by his private jet.
