Netflix will make a series about the life of Julio Iglesias

Netflix has signed a deal with music icon Julio Iglesias to produce a series about his life. The project marks the first time that Iglesias participates in the creative process of a production based on his musical and personal trajectory. To celebrate the announcement, the singer released a teaser of the attraction on his social networks.

Julio Iglesias also expressed his enthusiasm for the project in a statement, underlining the importance of Netflix as a platform to tell his story. “After many speculations, books and documentaries in which I was not involved, for the first time I decided to tell the truth about my life to a universal company like Netflix,” declared the artist. He also cited a touching letter from Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, as a deciding factor in his participation in the project.

From football to music records

Before becoming a famous singer, Julio Iglesias had a brief career in football, playing for Real Madrid, until an accident ended that dream. After his recovery, Iglesias discovered his talent for music, starting a career that would lead him to record in several languages ​​and become one of the best-selling artists in the world. His legacy includes performances alongside greats like Frank Sinatra and Diana Ross, as well as significant recognition such as a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 Grammys.

The series promises to tell the whole story, showing how Iglesias became the first non-English-speaking artist to penetrate the American and Asian markets. During the 70s and 80s, he even entered the Guinness Book of Records as the best-selling Latin music artist of all time.
