Wilma Petrillo, appointed Gal’s executor, asked for recognition of a stable union with the singer. The businesswoman did not respond to the report’s contact
The singer’s son Gal Costa (1945-2022), Gabriel Costa, filed a lawsuit to claim the right to his mother’s inheritance. He disputes the fraction desired by the former Gal-e manager presented by the press as his widow – Wilma Teodoro Petrillo. The trial takes place in secret at the Court of Justice of São Paulo (TJSP).
Information about the trial was confirmed at Estadao by one of Gabriel’s lawyers, Luci Vieira Nunes. Luci confirmed to the report that he provided legal advice to Gal in 1998, including in industrial action. Lawyer Mariana de Athayde Ferreira is also part of Gabriel’s defense.
In a note sent to the reporter, Luci says Gabriel has hired lawyers to defend his rights to his mother’s inheritance and “and says that (Gabriel) will defend his will in court.”
The note also states that Gabriel, at the time of Gal’s death in November 2022, had no means to defend himself because he was a minor and was under the custody and guidance of Wilma Petrillo.
Now, once you reach the age of majority, “you can take various actions to act according to your conscience, free from influences.”
The text also states that the note was authorized by Gabriel at the insistence of Gal’s friends and admirers, as well as the press, “to clarify that he is acting before the Judiciary”.
The tip contacted Wilma, but she did not return the contact. Wilma and Gal became close in the early 1990s. When the singer died, they lived together in a house in the Jardim América neighborhood of São Paulo.
In August 2023, Wilma was named the inventor of the assets left by Gal. At that moment Gabriel, still a minor, was placed under the temporary custody of the businesswoman.
Even before that, in July of the same year, the Court of São Paulo had sued Gal Costa’s son, Gabriel Costa Penna, to recognize whether or not a stable union existed between the singer and Wilma Petrillo, after the Defense of Public had taken a stand against the accusation confirming the report. Wilma then submitted a new request for recognition of the union.
Publicly, Gabriel treated Wilma as his godmother. The two arrived together at the singer’s funeral wake at the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo, on November 11, 2022, but said little to each other.
In July 2023, an article published by Piauí magazine brought a series of accusations against Wilma Petrillo that involved moral harassment, scams and threats. The businesswoman has never commented on the matter.
