According to judge, accusation made in 2023 against Aerosmith frontman does not meet criteria to move the case forward
The sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Steve Tyler was rejected. The frontman of Aerosmith was formally accused in November 2023 by a woman who alleges that he had harassed her in 1975, when she was still working as a model, aged 17 at the time.
Now the judge Lewis Kaplan rejected the case, claiming that the allegations did not meet sufficient criteria to move the process forward.
Jeanne Bellinowho accuses Tyler of harassment, filed the lawsuit under the Victim of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act – or Gender-Motivated Violence Victim Protection Act -, which expanded the statute of limitations for some offenses in the state of New Yorkin order to encourage reporting by victims of cases in this category.
However, in the ruling rejecting the action, the judge states that the accusation does not qualify, due to the fact that Jeanne Bellino did not accuse Tyler of “serious risk of physical injury”. The judge would also have determined that the accuser demonstrated a “lack of diligence” by not having reported the case earlier – since the accusation would have been possible through another act, the Child Victims Actdedicated to the protection of children – and prior to the judicial provision for gender violence (via NME).
According to the TMZthe prosecution has until May 13th to appeal the sentence.
Steven Tyler accused of sexual harassment

According to information published by the magazine Rolling Stone US in November, Jeanne Bellino reportedly went through “permanent emotional suffering” after being groped and kissed against her will by the musician, who was 75 years old at the time of the accusation.
Tyler was previously accused of sexual assault by another 16-year-old girl, his ex-girlfriend in the 1970s. The lawsuit, filed in California, was temporarily suspended. At the time, Aerosmith singer and frontman Steven Tyler denied all allegations of harassment, including that the victim consented to the sexual relationship and that Tyler had immunity as a legal guardian at the time the allegations occurred.
