orville: new horizons, Also known as the Seth MacFarlane Season 3 live-action sci-fi series, it is currently streaming. Hulu subscribers those who have listened have probably already understood that the last season is based on the your seriousness which was created during the second season. (Though the series still finds opportunities to incorporate humor from time to time.) This creative transition is certainly a departure from the tone introduced in Season 1 but, according to series star Scott Grimes, adopting such a narrative is something that had to happen.
I had the pleasure of speaking to Scott Grimes shortly after the release of “Gently Falling Rain”. The actor said the serious storytelling and the way Seth MacFarlane presents it are among the biggest things he likes about the show, and in the end he thinks it was the right move for MacFarlane, from a point of view.
This is the show for me, and how Seth does it without pushing a schedule. It’s just this mirror here, there’s something I’m going to tell you. You decide what you think we are talking about. Sometimes it’s a little more direct to Orville and some of those issues. If the show had stayed what it was the first season, which was a little ironic, we could have spent a few years at Fox, but Seth wouldn’t have had enough. The show wouldn’t go, I don’t think, anywhere. It would have been Another American Dad or Family Guy, but not live, and there’s nowhere to go with that.
show how family man Yes American father they’re great, but when creating Orville, Seth MacFarlane didn’t exactly aim to give viewers a show that mirrored the animated series they’ve been watching for years. Scott Grimes explained that MacFarlane wanted his cosmic series to be something more, which is why the series slowly began to morph into something more. serious stories in season 2 .
Scott Grimes pointed this out L’Orville: new horizonsThe new approach is more in line with what your colleague wanted to do. Not only that, but Grimes says he’s thankful the show has gone this way (after his departure from Fox). Grimes further explained why she was “satisfied” with the current version of the show and why it’s important that things are handled this way now:
I’m so glad you can do the show you want to do why why should you do it? [otherwise]? She doesn’t need to work. He does it because he wants to say something and is a great writer.
L’Orville: new horizonsThe premiere certainly showed that the series is ready to engage in more serious storylines. In the episode, the crew were up in arms when Isaac, the engineer of the Kaylon ship, committed suicide. The show, as previously mentioned by Scott Grimes, presented many different perspectives on the issue. Although Isaac’s actions were ultimately nullified (he’s an AI), this was the heaviest bet in the series to date. It’s definitely not something that I imagine will be addressed in the first season of orville or something that would have happened without any kind of controversy if the show had been always on the TV network .
As for the number of additional episodes L’Orville: new horizons will fall on Hulu, remains to be seen. It is not even clear at this time if season 4 will happen, even if the cast members hinted that the response from fans and the public it will play a role in the future of the program. Hopefully, if that happens, Seth MacFarlane will be able to continue to show his fully realized vision for the show, which seems to improve with his age.
