Ronson and Ryan Gosling performed ‘I’m Just Ken’ together at the 2024 Oscars
Mark Ronson believes that “I’m Just Ken” changed boys’ lives. “I know I’m going to sound like David Brent, but the song helped little boys,” the producer told The Times (via NME), making reference to the character played by Ricky Gervais in The Office.
“They broke up with my friend’s eight-year-old son and he said, ‘It’s okay, because Barbie broke up with Ken’. The song says it’s okay to come second,” he added. “The internet has caused a level of isolation for guys and this idea of male camaraderie and sharing your feelings is cool and an unexpected thing.”
