79-year-old South Korean actor found guilty in sexual harassment case, but must appeal
Oh Yeong-suaward-winning Korean actor Golden Globe for his role in Round 6, was found guilty in a case of sexual misconduct. The decision was announced this Friday (15).
According to the The New York Times, Oh was sued after inappropriately touching an actress in 2017, with acts that included hugging, touching hands and kissing the cheek. Now, the 79-year-old artist has been found guilty by a court in the city of Seongnam.
The lawsuit was filed in 2022, following Oh’s successful participation as player 001 in Round 6. Before that, in 2018, the actress who filed the lawsuit had already received counseling for victims of sexual violence.
Oh even issued a note with a public apology for the case, but later declared to the network JTBCfrom South Korea: “I simply held your hand to guide the way around the lake. I apologized because [a pessoa] I said I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it, but that doesn’t mean I admit to the allegations.”
With the conviction, Oh must serve a suspended sentence of eight months, in addition to 40 hours of classes on sexual violence. According to the Varietythe actor denied the accusations and must appeal the sentence.
