Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder compares Taylor Swift fans to punk rock audiences

The Pearl Jam frontman attended Taylor Swift’s concert alongside his daughter

Eddie Vedder took his daughter to a concert Taylor Swift and made an unusual comparison. The leader of Pearl Jam stated in an interview with Mojo (via NME) that fans of Swift they remember “the misfits” who attended the same punk rock shows as him when he was a child.

Vedder also commented on the friendship bracelets made and exchanged by fans throughout the tour. Taylor: “The preparation, making friendship bracelets with her [filha] and the generosity of these girls and boys, exchanging these bracelets with different messages on them, lyrics, song titles, just good things on these bracelets….”

Born in Illinois, the musician grew up in San Diego and Chicago, where he became involved with the local punk scene. He even joined the bands Surf and Destroy, Indian style It is Bad Radio. Therefore, he saw similarities between his punk group and swiftie culture.

“They’ve found their tribe, they’re all agreeing on something,” he said. Vedder. “The crazy thing was that it reminded me of punk rock tribes, of being with all the misfits in our city at that time. It was galvanizing and powerful” (via UCR).
