Gabriel Costa, 18, who requested the exhumation of the body, is fighting a legal battle against Wilma Petrillo
Singer Gal Costa’s son Gabriel Costa Penna Burgos, 18, said he did not know his mother had cancer before her death. The young man said he was only informed that Gal was undergoing treatment for his nose and throat. The artist died on November 9, 2022 in Sao Paulo.
“I didn’t know she was sick, with cancer and lung complications. I only found out when the news came out. I was the last to know,” he said in an interview with Folha de S. Paulo.
The death certificate states that the singer died due to an acute myocardial infarction. The document also states that he had head and neck cancer.
In the midst of a legal battle against Wilma Petrillo, who claims to be the artist’s widow, Gabriel submitted a request for exhumation and an autopsy to identify the true cause of his mother’s death.
