The event ends in the early hours of this Monday 25th; This year’s edition had some memorable shows and many average ones
Lollapalooza 2024 ended in the early hours of this Monday 25th, after performances by American singer SZA and rock band Greta Van Fleet. This year’s edition, the first organized by Rock World, the company that owns Rock In Rio, had the traditional characteristics of the festival: heterogeneous audiences, memorable (and many average) shows, rain and lots of mud.
The event faced challenges before it even began, with four cancellations, the most heartfelt being that of the band Paramore, replaced on Saturday by Kings of Leon. Furthermore, in the early hours of Friday, a fire broke out in a support tent, which was soon put out. Despite the obstacles, however, the outcome seems to have been more positive than negative.
The organization did not provide the total number of spectators at the event, but 240,000 people were expected. The last day was calmer than the first, with the drizzle, which had not left the Interlagos circuit since Friday, finally giving way. Despite this, the mud made traffic between the stages difficult and annoying.
On Friday, the festival’s “punk day”, large audiences packed the Autódromo to see bands like The Offspring, Arcade Fire and Blink-182, but suffered from the rain and cold. Brazilians Marcelo D2 and Luísa Sonza also played in the afternoon. See the highlights.
On Saturday, a specific line from Tom Jobim’s classic makes perfect sense: “It’s the mud, it’s the mud.” It was difficult to move around the Autódromo, but the audience was not discouraged and enjoyed the shows of Hozier, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Limp Bizkit. Closing the evening were the band Kings of Leon, who replaced Paramore after their cancellation, and the group Titãs. See the highlights.
On Sunday, in addition to SZA and Greta Van Fleet, the protagonists of the final day were Sam Smith, who gave a great show, and Gilberto Gil, who was embraced by the young audience and gave an apotheotic performance.

The best shows at Lollapalooza Brasil 2024
Gilberto Gil
Attraction placed between late afternoon and early evening, Gilbetto Gil was seen by a young audience who were in Lolla for attractions such as Sam Smith and Sza. However, he was affectionately embraced by the audience who gathered in large numbers in front of the Samsung stage. Gil, in full force, commanded the crowd and had everyone singing along to hits like That hug, he highlights, we run away AND Stage. A great show. Read the analysis here.
Sam Smith
Sam Smith performed on the Samsung Galaxy Stage before the headliners, but in a performance worthy of being a major attraction. He did a show “about freedom”, as he described it, with a grandiose tone, in which he demonstrated vocal power and great successes. He moved the audience and made the audience dance with one of the best performances of the festival. Read the analysis here.
Hozier
Hozier sang on the Samsung Galaxy Stage near sunset, a moment that combined with a performance characterized by constant harmony with the audience. Accustomed to intimate shows, the singer did not ignore the energy of the Brazilian audience and held it in his hands until the last chord. The peak was certainly his greatest success, Take me to church, at which point he came down to sing with the fans. Read the analysis here.
Titans
We must celebrate the Tità’s choice for Lolla. On a day with an eclectic programme, for an audience of all ages, there was curiosity as to whether the band’s sound would satisfy the most nostalgic.
However, Titãs’ music – with a flavor of São Paulo concrete, of stone jungle men – continues to be like stones in the status quo. “No homeland gave me birth”, sang Arnaldo Antunes in one of the first numbers of the excellent show that concluded the second day of Lolla Brasil. Read the analysis here.
Sza
SZA took to a Brazilian stage for the first time this Sunday, the 24th, during Lollapalooza. Maybe it took a while for his talent to be recognized, but he arrived in the country at the right time: at the peak of his career and breaking all records.
The R&B singer, who with the excellent album SOS became a “pop diva”, combines everything that is best in this name: the voice, the concept, the audience and, above all, where to go. You are the commander of your own ship.
The singer could have made more use of the gifts, which she so longed to see and so longed to see. She was the only missing element in a theatrically and musically perfect performance. Read the analysis here.
Thirty seconds to Mars
Wearing a shiny silver cape, Jared Leto, the band’s leader, arrived like a superhero, fist in the air and asking fans to jump in time to the music. Up in the air. The light show, pyrotechnics and even black balloons incorporated the presentation and made it even grander. It was a spectacle from start to finish, anchored by the singer’s charisma. The worst shows of Lollapalooza Brasil 2024
King of Leon
Kings Of Leon took to the stage, once again, as an announced attraction following the line-up announcement. The band replaced Paramore, who canceled their appearance in January. The group chose to make a rigid presentation, which at times confused the audience who risked playing from the beginning Mustang, the latest single released by the band. Luckily, the show ended on a high note with Sex on fire, but the feeling was of a monotonous show. Read the analysis here.
Luisa Sonza
Luísa Sonza gave a fun, but not very innovative, show in front of a lukewarm audience on the afternoon of the first day of Lolla. The singer also paid tribute to Gal Costa and Marília Mendonça, and also managed to entertain the audience with the greatest hits, but it took her a while to get going and she did not give up on the base presented at The Town in 2023.
