AI can predict lifespan. It will be? Researchers have revealed a new tool for artificial intelligence call Life2Vec AI, which has the ability to predict life expectancy based on a wide range of data. Recently published in the magazine Nature Computational Sciencea paper describes how the algorithm uses advanced natural language processing techniques to analyze human life events, from the likelihood of early death to personality traits.
A Life2Vec AI was developed using a vast set of data from the population of Denmark. It thus worked by encompassing detailed records of significant events in the lives of millions of citizens over several years. This data includes information on occupations, income, addresses and health conditions, among others.
Don’t take it “literally”
While the model proves to outperform existing models by a wide margin, the developers highlight something important. This is because they created it “just for fun” and should not be interpreted in an excessively serious way. In other words, AI can “predict” lifespan, but nothing is mathematically accurate! Furthermore, this approach aims to promote discussion about the risks associated with the commercial use of personal data obtained through leaks by companies.
Operating in a similar way to ChatGPTthe model Life2Vec AI allows users to send commands and receive responses based on artificial intelligence. It can make predictions about mortality risk, future income, educational performance, occupations, health conditions and personality traits.
