Remember the journey of the king of pop, Michael Jackson, who received a tribute at Lollapalooza created by MC Livinho
Michael Jackson’s name fell on the lips of the Lollapalooza crowd this weekend. This is because the King of Pop was honored during MC Livinho’s performance at the festival, which took place from March 22 to 24, at the Autódromo de Interlagos.
The journey of the king of pop
With this in mind, Famosos and Celebridades have summarized Michael Jackson’s highly successful career. Let’s remember a little about the path of the King of Pop?
1958-1970
Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. His musical career began shortly thereafter, at the age of five. At that time, he joined his brothers in the Jackson 5.
That name is very familiar, isn’t it? Well, the Jackson 5’s fame was almost instantaneous. As a result, Michael Jackson’s voice already appeared in numerous hits in the 60s and 70s.
1971 – 1978
It was in the early 1970s that Michael Jackson began investing in his solo career. In 1972 he released his first two albums: “Got to Be There” and “Ben”, both with ten songs each. It was blow after blow!
Then, his solo career really took off at the end of the decade, especially after the release of one of his most iconic albums to date: “Off the Wall,” in 1979.
1980 – 1990
Have you ever heard the expression “rockets don’t have reverse gear”? This was the fate of Michael Jackson’s career. In 1982 he released the acclaimed album “Thriller”, which ended up becoming the best-selling album of all time. Within the project we know songs that mark Michael’s career to date such as “Billie Jean”, “Beat It” and, of course, the title track “Thriller”.
Indeed, the song’s terrifying video marked not only the career of the king of pop, but the history of music in general. To this day, the video is seen as inspiration for other artists.
Throughout the 1980s, Michael Jackson continued to release more successful albums, such as 1987’s “Bad.”
1990 – 2000
Now well established in his career, the ’90s served to bring the singer back into the spotlight, for better or for worse.
In the early years, Michael released the album “Dangerous”, with hits such as “Black or White” and “Remember the Time”. It was also in these early years that the singer participated in the founding of the “Heal the World Foundation”, in 1992.
However, it was also in the 1990s that his name first made headlines due to allegations of child sexual abuse. The court case gained greater notoriety in 2005. Even so, Michael Jackson was acquitted of all charges.
2000-2009
Throughout the 2000s, the singer struggled to achieve songs with the same commercial success as his older releases. This was the case with the 2001 album “Invincible”, which ultimately didn’t do very well.
In 2009, Michael Jackson had planned his “This Is It” tour. However, the project never went ahead. This is because on June 25 of that year he was the victim of an accidental overdose, at the age of 50, with prescribed drugs.
Despite his untimely death, the King of Pop’s legacy continues to influence artists and inspire new musical projects around the world. This was the case of MC Livinho, who paid tribute to the singer at Lollapalooza 2024, last weekend.
Homage to Lollapalooza by MC Livinho
The Brazilian funk artist brought a Michael Jackson impersonator to the electronic stage at Lollapalooza last weekend. In a show with a million dollar budget, Livinho wanted to show a hologram of the King of Pop teaching him how to dance, showing Michael’s influences today.
