With diverse influences, AMESLARI prepares to reach an international audience

Inspired by national and foreign artists, the singer has been conquering his space in the music world

The practice of listening to music together with parents is common, especially when one is still a child. AMESLARI, a 24-year-old musician, started his career that way. In 2009, when attending a concert by Elton Johnthe young man became a fan of the English singer and decided to learn to play the piano.

The experience of having joined a choir as a baritone brought teachings that still help his voice today. “The influence that stayed with me comes a lot from the vocal technique classes focused on lyrical singing. Even though I don’t remember everything I learned, some things stayed and the style itself stayed a little, mainly in the way of projecting the voice in some higher and stronger notes that I sing”explains.

The search for the artistic name came through the interest in languages. “I thought of a lot of different words in different languages and I was hard-pressed searching Google Translate until I came across the word ‘dreamer’. When I saw this word in Basque I said ‘that’s the name’clarifies.

The junction with his band happened in 2017 in a natural way. “My keyboard player, the Alessandro Perê, has been my piano teacher for years. When I commented on my interest in pursuing an authorial career, he was very enthusiastic and offered to participate. I asked if he knew of other musicians who could play the project and he introduced me to the other three: Moi Gonzalesguitar player, Paulo Bassbassist and Thiago Carbonaridrummer”says.

With reflective songs, AMESLARI conquered more than 250 thousand views in the clip of one of his compositions, “The Young”. Through his songs, he mostly expresses his thoughts. “Many of the lyrics are personal experiences or feelings of mine, like ‘Distance’, ‘The Young’ and ‘Everything At Once’, but some are just stories or scenes that come to mind, like ‘Song For The Brokenhearted’ and ‘Goodnight. Song’. I think inspiration can come from anywhere: from a great love, from a video game, from an empty store at a roadside station. This spark, for me, cannot be forced, it just comes, and it is up to the artist to take advantage of it”, highlights.

Having Elton John as an idol, the musician explains what the singer’s singles are for him. “I really like the way he builds melodies and harmonies, which are sophisticated and beautiful, but approachable”it says.

The pianist is also influenced by other performers. “I identify a lot with very different sounds from each other – from dream theater The Paulinho da Violain George Harrison The Lady Gaga, among many others. That’s why my sound has varied more and more, starting with the album City Stories (2019), which was more cohesive, with a few different things and reaching contrasts like ‘Everything At Once’ and ‘Distance’. One that I could not fail to mention is the Freddie Mercury. What this man sang and what stage presence he had was absurd. Seeing five minutes of him in a show is a stage lesson for anyone.”analyze.

One of his works, the song “Distance”, was released this year and uses a new style in relation to the others: electronic. According to him, the idea is to keep innovating. “More and more I’ve been trying to show how much I like to hear different things. I’ve done pop rock from the 1980s, I’ve done more modern pop rock, I’ve done hard rock with one foot in metal and now I’ve done electronics. I like it a lot because it’s very me. My mind works like this, going from one place to another all the time – and often these places are very far apart. I intend to keep it that way.”reports.

Due to the pandemic, AMESLARI had to cancel the presentations he was going to make. According to him, that period was terrible. “My career was about to take a turn, with shows in São Paulo triggered and everything, which had to be cancelled. My mental health suffered a lot at the time, for that and for personal reasons as well – that sum of things is what spawned ‘Everything At Once’, by the way.”, describe. This song talks about pressure and suffering, and has over 100,000 views on Youtube.

The return to the stage took place at the end of 2021, at the Hard Rock Café, in Ribeirão Preto – the composer’s hometown – after two years without playing. According to him, the feeling was great. “It was probably the show I had the most fun at so far. I’ve always been a perfectionist to the extreme and that made me feel absurdly concerned about not making mistakes and making everything flawless – which did more harm than good. In recent times, however, I’ve managed to soften this – but without losing, because I think it’s important to want things in the best possible way and being a perfectionist helps maintain the quality standard”account.

Another presentation that he would make, and had to be rescheduled because of Covid-19, was the festival Brazilian Bacon Daywhich will take place in September this year. AMESLARI will perform alongside big names like Cavadão bikini and pitty. “Expectations are very good! It’s an honor to play at the same festival as all of them. I really want to bring the best show I can there and win people over.”express.

An anime lover, the interpreter sees his soundtracks as great references. “Speaking of anime specifically, I listen to a lot of Japanese music because of them and more and more I realize how many amazing artists there are there. Sid and Bump Of Chicken, for example, are two bands that I think are sensational. Soundtracks in general have always fascinated me a lot, because the idea of marrying a song – composed for the work or not – with a scene, a moment, is beautiful for me, it’s always something that comes to my mind, even in relation to music. real life situations”declares.

As for the favorite character, AMESLARI elect the Kitagawa Marineof the work My Dress-Up Darling. “She loves anime and games and manifests that through cosplay, something I think is really cool and would like to try one day too. Kitagawa feels the love for the works in a very intense way. Also, she is extremely open to different tastes, loves to eat and is quite lazy, which almost defines me in its own right!”he claims, laughing.
With the dream of playing on the World Stage of Rock In Rio, the composer says what is the musical partnership he would like to make one day. “I would love to record a jazz record with Billie Eilish. I love jazz and I think her voice would be great for that. Apart from that, with her creativity, she would bring some modern influence to the record. I think it would be great”ends.
