Bus used by Wings, Paul McCartney’s group, goes up for auction

Formed by Denny Laine, Paul and Linda McCartney, Wings toured Europe with a bus that underwent restoration and will be auctioned in April

The bus used by Wingsgroup formed by Paul McCartney and his then wife Linda McCartney, during a European tour in the summer of 1972, will be auctioned. The expectation is that the auction, promoted by Car & Classics, reach between £150,000 and £200,000. The sale starts on the 22nd and runs until the 29th of this month.

After traveling 7,500 miles (approximately 12,070 km) through nine countries and 25 cities on tour, the bus returned to public transport. It was only purchased in 2019 and underwent a restoration in 2022.

The deck on top of the bus also underwent a transformation: it now references the Rooftop Concert by Beatles. In an interview, McCartney stated: “We knew we were going to tour Europe and that the weather would be nice, and the idea of ​​being stuck on a bus all the time, going from city to city, hotel to hotel, wasn’t very appealing, so we decided to travel on an open-top bus and soak up the sun as we traveled from place to place” (via DailyMail).
