New arrival in two versions on digital platforms, with collaborations with Florence + The Machine and Post Malone among the songs
Taylor Swift released, this Friday (19), his 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Departmentand one of the songs appears to reference Travis KelceAmerican football player and current boyfriend of the singer.
In “The Alchemy”the singer – who has the habit of addressing her own life in her songs, including her romantic relationships – uses some sports references and even alludes to the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs, a team from Kelceat this year’s Super Bowl, where she was present and celebrated with her boyfriend.
“So when I show up/ Call the amateurs and cut them from the team/ Abandon the clowns, take the crown/ Baby, I’m the only one to be defeated”, sings the artist in one excerpt. In another part of the song, Swift makes the reference even clearer:
“Shirts ripped off and your friends lifting it above their heads/ Beer sticking to the floor, victory chants, because they said so/ That there was no chance in trying to be the biggest in the league/ Where’s the trophy? He just came running to me”sings.
The new album by Taylor Swift arrived on digital platforms in two versions: The Tortured Poets Departmentwith 16 songs, and The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, with 15 additional songs. Both include the album’s standout partnerships: “Fortnight”with Post Malonewhich was chosen to be the first single of the new era; It is “Florida!!!”with Florence + the Machine.
“The Tortured Poets Department It’s a secret DOUBLE album”Swift explained. “I’ve written so much tortured poetry over the last two years and I wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second part of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story is no longer mine… it’s all yours.” Listen now:
“An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and feelings from a fleeting and fatalistic moment – which was both sensational and sad in equal measure”wrote the artist on her social networks, when announcing the release of the album.
“This period of the author’s life is over, the chapter has been closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, there are no scores to settle once the wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted.”continued Swift.
“This writer firmly believes that our tears become sacred in the form of ink on a page. Once we tell our saddest story, we can let go of it”he added, before closing: “And then all that’s left is tortured poetry.”
