Avril Lavigne recreates Let Go cover in celebration of the album’s 20th anniversary

Avril Lavigne went to the place that took the cover photo of Let Go after two decades

Avril Lavigne recreated the iconic cover of the first studio album, let go (2002), in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the launch. In a video published on TikTok, the Canadian singer revisited Canal Street in New York, United States, where she took the album cover photo. (via NME)

The soundtrack is the music “I’m Just A Kid,” of Simple Planwhich is part of a trend in the app that shows users recreating photos from when they were kids. The video makes a transition from the current photo to the one from 2002, at the time when Lavigne was just 18 years old.

“I just went to the place where I took the picture of my first record let go here in New York,” he wrote on Twitter.

20 years later…

At the beginning of June, Lavigne released a deluxe version of let go, also to celebrate the two decades of the record. The new album includes B-side tracks such as “Falling Down,” “I Don’t Give,” “Why,” “Get Over It” and “Make Up” – the last two were not available on streaming platforms until the deluxe disc was released.

In addition, the new version contains a recording of “Breakaway,” song originally co-written by Lavignebut which was immortalized in the voice of Kelly Clarkson and became a hit in 2004.


Avril Lavigne in Brazil

After eight years of the last show in Brazil, Lavigne will return to the country for two performances in September this year. The singer is one of the attractions on the Sunset Stage of Rock in Rio 2022 on September 9th and announced a date in São Paulo, at Espaço das Américas, for September 7th. Both performances are sold out.
