The singer promotes two events at Espaço Unimed, in Sao Paulo, whose proceeds will be entirely donated to the state of Rio Grande do Sul
Singer Sandy Leah revealed this Tuesday (7/5) that she will perform two charity shows in Sao Paulo, aiming to raise funds for flood victims in Rio Grande do Sul. The events will take place at Espaço Unimed on 15 and 16 June. In a statement via Instagram, the artist expressed his compassion for those affected and his motivation: “I pause to join these thousands of hearts crushed by so much sadness, with all this devastation in Rio Grande do Sul. I have I helped several times, I made donations, I also shared many ways to help, but I felt that I could – and should – do more.”
A break in his musical career
The shows will also mark the beginning of a hiatus in Sandy’s musical career. She had intended to announce a break from the stage, but she wanted to turn the moment into a more meaningful farewell for her audience. “I was going to announce two show dates, because I wanted to announce that I’m going to take a break, a break from the stage. But I wanted to say a better goodbye to my audience. I wanted to be close, give my audience a big sonic hug, and I decided to give new meaning to this moment, so I will donate all the income I earn from ticket sales for both shows to this cause.”
Commitment to effective aid
The singer assured that all proceeds from the shows will go to help flood victims. “I will donate all the proceeds I will obtain from the sale of tickets for the two shows to this cause. I am working with my team to see what is the best way for this aid to actually reach [às vítimas da tragédia]. Together we are stronger, we know it,” Sandy explained.
He also reassured his fans, clarifying that the farewell to the stage is only temporary: “Calm down, I won’t disappear completely! It was just supposed to be a sort of ‘farewell show’ with my old fans.” But my heart was asking to give a new meaning to this moment.”
