Halsey protested against the repeal of the right to abortion in the United States
Halsey criticized fans who left his show in Arizona, United States. The singer protested against the repeal of the right to abortion – which now allows states to choose the legality of the procedure.
Among other points raised in the speech, Halsey mentioned the right to choose, highlighted how many women end up undergoing the procedure during their lifetime and criticized the US Supreme Court.
“My heart breaks as I look at the public. I see so many people who deserve amazing lives, deserve healthcare, deserve the right to choose. I hope each and every one of you… I don’t want you to be in a situation without the right to it. ,” he stated during the show.
“If you don’t like that, I don’t know how you came to a concert Halseybecause I’ve never been shy about how I feel,” she added.
On Twitter, a fan claimed that the singer’s concerts would start to empty if she continued to make statements about abortion. According to the social network user, some people left a presentation in Arizona during a speech.
“I’ve used abortion statistics on my show since the tour started in May. 16,000 people came to my last show. I’ll be fine because my audience is on the right side of history,” Halsey also countered on Twitter.
The “people pay to see you sing not hear your views” argument is so dumb. No, you paid to see me use a stage as a form of expression in the manner that I choose. Sorry you lack the critical thinking to realize that the rhetorical power of music doesn’t always serve your escapism.
