Eduardo Paes threatens Bruno Mars exhibition close to the Rio elections: ‘The city hall will not give authorization’

Tickets for the singer’s performance in the city were sold out, even under retaliation from the mayor; the show will take place the day before the elections, October 4th

The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Pees (PSD), has stated that it will not authorize the arrival of Bruno Mars for his show in the city, scheduled for October 4th, given the proximity of the date to the 1st round of the municipal elections, the 6th of the same month. The mayor warned via the social network

“The electoral process requires a large mobilization of public employees. This mainly concerns the police force and the municipal guard. Let’s imagine that any important event takes place in Rio de Janeiro (I would even say in Brazil). On the eve of the elections it is absurd for the need to mobilize a large number of these same public agents”, continued Eduardo Paes.

The mayor then clarified that the production of the show had been informed of the impossibility of holding the Bruno Mars show on October 4, but that the sale was carried out anyway. “The city of Rio de Janeiro has not given and will not give authorization for the aforementioned show during the election week. If the warnings given were not sufficient, this publication serves to avoid imagining that an irreversible situation will be created. Beyond this period, it will be an honor to welcome the artist Bruno Mars to the city of Rio”, he concluded.

Tickets for the singer’s show sold out on the day sales opened, meaning extra dates opened in Rio de Janeiro on October 5, as well as two more dates in Sao Paulo and one in Brasilia.
